PROGRAM

  • Increase appreciation and understanding of the Long Island Sound

  • Engage students and community members in the Long Island Sound watershed in stewardship activities to achieve trash-free waters

  • Build public awareness of threats to the Sound, including climate change, plastic debris, and microplastics

By teaching students about the living resources of the Long Island Sound—as well as the threats to its health due to pollution, plastic debris, and climate change— the program aims to cultivate a new generation of coastal stewards who will help to stem the flow of litter into the Sound and create more climate resilient communities.

RFUTURE will support students as they create music, video and social media that will illuminate and reverberate their experiences around the Long Island Sound as they develop and share a lasting relationship with this special body of water in The Bronx.
